Longboarding is a sport that has gained popularity over the past years. More and more people are trying it out simply because they feel that longboarding is something that they can truly enjoy. It will be hard to enjoy longboarding if you do not know the basic things like riding your longboard with ease and slowing down whenever you need to.

After some time and after using your longboard for a long period of time, you will begin to realize that you are already starting to gain the proper skills that you need to have in order to start with doing some neat tricks and techniques that you would like to do from time to time in order to enjoy using your longboard more.

Do remember that each trick that you plan on doing will not immediately be done unless you are so good at longboarding that simply watching one video for the first time will allow you to know exactly what you have to do. You may need to do some practicing in order to accomplish the type of trick you want to try.

Doing Stand up Slide on Your Longboard

One of the techniques that people would like to do is to learn how to do the stand up slide. What you have to remember is to make sure that you will be determined in learning this technique. If you lack the passion to continue on, you will not learn immediately. The less determined you are in learning this technique, the harder it will be for you to move forward from this technique to try out other techniques.

One tip that you have to remember when you are doing the trick is that you need to wear safety gear. You would need to do the trick all over and over again until you get it right. There is always a big chance that you are going to make mistakes and you are going to get hurt in the process. Lessen the chances of acquiring injuries by having the right gear.

Here are the steps that you have to take:

  1. Set up the carve.

You would need to make sure that you will be carving the best way that you possibly can but make sure that you will be maintaining your balance in the process in order to proceed towards the next step.

  1. Lean Heel side.

Remember that 40% of your weight should be on your heels so that you can maintain your balance. With this said, 60% of the weight should be on your front foot. Remember that the foot that you are going to place in front and the one that you are going to place near the back part of your longboard will depend on you. You may be a regular or a goofy depending on what foot you are comfortable in using.

  1. Turn Shoulders and Hips Depending on the direction.

Let us say that you would like to go to the left, you would need to turn both your shoulders and hips to the left to make sure that the board will be going to the left. It might seem extreme in the beginning especially if this is your first time to do it but the more you practice it, the more that you will get used to it.

  1. Lean back as you move towards the direction you would be going to.

It will be hard for you to move if you would not be able to keep your balance while you are shifting from one direction to another. Lean back a bit do that you can be balanced. If you are not balanced, you will not succeed in doing this trick with ease.

  1. Lean Forward.

After leaning back towards the curve that you are doing, you would need to not only lean forward but also crouch your knees in the process so that you will be able to keep your balance. Once you have done this technique once, you will be most likely to do it again.

If in case you would be given a chance to do this technique, you already know what you need to follow. There is a big chance that you will be making some mistakes with the placing of your feet. This is normal and remember that you can always improve.
